Beginning's Beginning

Fri Aug 8, 2008, 1:43 PM
What can I say, I'm doing this more to simply write something than continue to stare at my blank page :P

I just got back from the highlight of my summer, five unbelievably amazing days in Toronto with a certain some one, and now find myself with three empty weeks.

Thankfully the time is letting me get back to things I had forgot even existed! I mean really, how many of you knew that novels still existed?

So I'm starting off with Raymond E. Feist's Magician: Apprentice, the author's preferred edition. Caught wind of it two weeks ago, bought it two days ago, and am currently sitting on page 120 and trying my best not to spend my entire day cooped up in this room.

Side note: why can't I underline the title... doesn't look right without it.

Judging from these first pages I can see I'll have to complete the series :P

Well, water is over boiling and they just tossed my bread into the oven before the garlic could be added. Better go!

The Muse

Thu Jan 24, 2008, 2:31 AM
Firstly what pray tell is one’s muse?

For those who have traversed the path of mythology and found themselves bunkered in the haven of Greek literature I am sorry to say that this particular puzzle of thoughts that I am slowly putting together is not indicated to the nine daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne.

No this particular morn I’m more fascinated by the concept of one’s muse, I am more inspired to wander the roads of your minds and for a moment if you’ll allow, to be seated at your table and take part in that which you do every day.

What is it that inspires you? What is it that forces your hand to be drawn forth from the concealment of a pocket and take up arms against a battling thought in the form of art? What is it that forces you to share with us all the private world in your head, because that is what it is, each stroke of the pen, every tip of the brush it is your private thoughts being shown to the world. What is it that inspires you, what is your muse?

Possibly it changes, for how could one write of love, death and the block of imagination with the exact same muse?

When you gaze into her blushing eyes, when you feel her lips gently pressed upon your own, a soft voice caressing your neck as two hold in embrace and in her whispers she says I love you. You long for her to be beside you once more; the same blushing eyes replaced with a faint glow of the screen, the same gentle kiss only dreamt of as you let the fainting wind brush pass your own, and the same words spoken with equal emotion leave you yearning to feel her warmth. Well then you’re stuck, you don’t know how to feel and nothing will come to you as easily as it once did. The turning of a faint glow to her blushing eyes, a gentle wind acting as her passion, or the warmth of her breath as she quietly spoke in your embrace seems.

She has been my muse for all works posted, for all works thought, and for all works written only for a save file at the core of my computer.

Well, you have mine, what’s yours?

Dedication

Wed Oct 24, 2007, 6:24 PM
Quite recently I re-found an old scrap of paper, which over the years has accumulated its fair share of scratches, and wrinkles as one can easily notice. Anyways this particularly piece of war-torn paper holds upon it the death tally of all my literary works, because as silly as it sounds until very recently any work I completed was then printed, burned and forgotten (or at last pushed to the back of my mind).

I just want to end a warning to any people who might have the same habit as I once did and that warning is: DO NOT BURN YOUR WORK!

Alright? We all get the message? Good!

Now for those of you who didn't get the message, write down every work you burn or have burned... you'll see that the singular victims have become a graveyard / cemetery depending where you burn them ^_^;;

Short Stories 30+ pages but below 100: 14 of them
Novelettes 101+ pages but below 300: 9 of them
Novels (if you can even say it) 301+ but never above 500: 3
Poems (excluding sonnets): 167
Sonnets: 42
Essays (5 paragraph format): 33

And as you can see, the list just grows . . .
So don't burn your work! (Not that any would anyways x.x)
